Veterans Day Service

Our service on Veterans Day was also a success. Our speakers were City Commissioner Keith Merri, a Navy veteran, and Jack Collins, Elks District Chairman for Army of Hope. The highlight of the program was Levi Da-vis, who sang the Star Spangled Banner. Incredible! Many were teary-eyed afterwards. We had 50 in attendance and it was followed by burgers ‘n dogs.
The photo shows the lineup of speakers. Christine Crider, ER; Jack Collins, DDSWCD; Keith Merritt, Lakeland City Commissioner; and Mary Allphin, Lodge Veterans Services Chair.

Pre-Veterans Day Picnic

On November 8th we had our pre-Veterans Day picnic. We served brats, dogs n burgers with sides. Twenty of our veterans ate for free and we also had a cake auction which raised $1,400 for our Veterans programs. It was a great day!

Annual Visit to James A. Haley Hosp.

On October 9th
we made our annual trip to James A. Haley and what a great day it was. We couldn’t have asked for better weather and we fed close to 400! Bobby and Diane Shumate entertained everyone with music and karaoke and Rod Hamlet brought his cooker. A big hit was ice cream cups that we gave our instead of cookies. We had 35 volunteers with us and I would like to thank everyone for making it a huge success.
