April 7th Road trip

Our “Road Captain” for the April ride mapped out the trip and took the lead on the ride.
The ride one way was approximately, 85 miles.

We arrived approximately 2 hours later at the Blackwater Inn Restaurant in Astor, FL.
We enjoyed cold beverages and a delicious lunch with a beautiful view of the St. Johns River.

We celebrated Chris Porche’s 59th Birthday with cake. After lunch we took a slightly different scenic route back into Eustis & Mascotte and then on to home base. No bear siting’s were reported (just a one encounter with a swarm of bees).

April 2019

The last couple months have been very busy for the Lodge 1291 Elks Riders. We hosted our first New Year’s Eve party and we’d like to thank everyone who came out and helped us celebrate. We hope you all enjoyed the music, Skip Fry was on point as usual, and the breakfast buffet appeared to be a hit with everyone in attendance.

In February we hosted the officers from the Bradenton Elks Riders, along with the President of the first Elks Riders chapter which is in Massachusetts. The Lodge 1291 Elks Riders were officially presented with their vests and patches making us official Elks Riders.

In February we also had our annual smoked chicken and butt sale. Again, a big thank you to all who supported us. In conjunction with the sale we also raffled off two liquor baskets. Congratulations to Rick Beale and Cathy Swann who won the baskets.

We will continue to host a game night one Saturday each month and everyone is welcome to join us, just bring a covered dish to share. Cocktails are typically at 5:30 pm, followed by dinner at 6:30 and games at 7:00.

We also plan a group ride each month. The March ride was south along Hwy. 27 and then through the Myakka River State Park area. We ended up at the Phillippi Creek Oyster Bar in Sarasota for lunch and socializing then rode back to the lodge.

Please keep in mind that any member of the Lakeland Elks Lodge is welcome to join the Elks Riders. You do not have to ride a motorcycle to join us so come out and enjoy the fun with us. Just ask any of the Elks Riders about our upcoming events for April and May.
